Abstract: By gathering hydrogeological data from abandoned mines in the entire Pilsen Basin, it was possible to reach the following conclusions: 1) Today, no direct hydrogeological observations can be made in reclaimed abandoned and buried mine spaces. 2) Most of the coal reserves were mined in the Pilsen Basin by old mines. In the Kladno Formation with the Radnice and Nýřany Members, the excavated spaces of many old mines connect to each other. 3) In the course of the old mining and geological exploration works, attention was not paid to the detailed study of tectonic lines, their course, filling powers, permeability or the accompanying system of diaclase. Even their course was determined in many cases after the mining works were disturbed, or speculatively, without sufficient documentation of their course. This is also why there is a lack of data on the main routes of groundwater movement. Imperfect mining methods, irregular mining over a long period of time and the digging of a large number of different passages, chimneys and pits have caused considerable disturbance of the overlying strata throughout the coal mining area. 4. Even today, after the complete completion of subsidence in the entire mined area, the rock environment is so disturbed that the entire complex of town hall and Nýřany Member is drained due to its considerable permeability and even voids.
